Position Summary
A key member of the University Housing Facilities Services leadership team, this position reports to the Director of Housing Capital Construction. This position provides the management, leadership, and oversight to the delivery of construction, repair, and renovation projects conducted by Housing Facilities Services. Specifically, this position is responsible for management of Facilities Services' in-house and vendor (contractor) Construction Services program.

This position manages projects from cradle to grave including scope-of-work development, estimating services, project budget development, monitoring, inspection, scheduling for all multi-trade projects, logistics, material procurement, project closeout, and related project management responsibilities. This position supervises trades personnel temporarily assigned to specific construction/renovation activities for internal multi-trade, construction, and renovation projects.

The Housing Construction Services Manager directly manages project budgets (labor, material, equipment, sub-contractors) totaling in excess of $2M annually. This will include providing updates and support to the associated Housing managers/supervisors.

This position provides facilities services management support to University Housing, an auxiliary educational and business enterprise of the university with an annual operating budget of approximately 50 million dollars. University Housing provides residence hall accommodations for approximately 4,200 students, with nine dining venues, and 432 apartments and family housing units. The various units represent over two million square feet of living/dining space and approximately 80 acres of grounds.

Essential Personnel:
This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.

Minimum Requirements
  • Five years' experience in planning, development, design, and construction management of maintenance, repair, and construction projects in a large maintenance or facilities operation.
  • Experience authoring and providing cost estimates for diverse construction, repair, or renovation projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks where successful collaboration and coordination with other supervisors was essential due to operating conditions, with an understanding of collaborative decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate multiple work requirements and prioritize accomplishment in accordance with life, health, safety, housing resident, customer, and academic mission impacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several requirements or projects simultaneously.
  • Safety and security - observing safety and security procedures, using equipment and materials properly, and expecting employees and vendors to do the same.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in university residential or higher education facilities, especially in a setting where duties were performed as a member of a team serving diverse operations.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant capital construction computer-based applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.), Autodesk software suite (Acad, Revit, Navisworks etc), Adobe suite software (Acrobat, Photoshop, sketch-up), Finishline, Microsoft Project, and MultiVista. Demonstrated working knowledge must have been within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience in lead work, staff coordination, or direct supervision of staff
