  • Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Accounts, the Collections Specialist is responsible for the timely collection of delinquent accounts. This position is responsible for upholding exceptional customer service standards while adhering and complying with federal, state regulations and University policies.

    Essential Functions:
  • Provide prompt, accurate and exceptional customer service via, phone, email and in-person interactions for both students and families.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Financial Aid and Registration processes to further assist students and families.
  • Identify and assess delinquent student accounts on a semester basis.
  • Update student database to correctly present past due accounts as they pertain to the general ledger.
  • Counsel students on outstanding account balance with respect and integrity while creating payment arrangements.
  • Create internal collection communications that adhere to timely schedule to increase student responsiveness.
  • Place accounts with collection agencies at specified timing intervals.
  • Reconcile collection accounts with College and collection agency inventories.
  • Uphold State, Federal regulations and college policy as it pertains to collection processes.
Position Type: Part Time 20 hrs per week

Appointment Months Per Year: 12 month

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be a well-organized, high energy individual with excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate verbally and through written word to students and families while upholding exceptional customer service values.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to set priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism under all circumstances.
  • Exercise good judgment, ability to work under pressure, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • The position requires excellent attention to detail in order to maintain the highest quality standards.
