Position Summary:

This position is for a clinical faculty member in speech-language pathology and includes supervisory and teaching responsibilities within the masters of speech-pathology graduate program. The UW Speech and Hearing Clinic (UWSHC) is in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The department has an undergraduate program, a master's program in speech-language pathology, Au.D. program, and a Ph.D. program.

The UWSHC is a teaching clinic where graduate students provide service to patients under the guidance and supervision of state-licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists. The UWSHC offers evaluation, treatment, and consultation services for children and adults with speech, language, hearing, and related communication needs.

This position provides student training and client care through the UWSHC as a speech-language pathologist.

Principal Duties:

Teach CD 790-Practicum in Communicative Disorders as a clinical professor in speech-language pathology and includes supervisory and teaching responsibilities within the SLP graduate program. Principal duties will be to train and supervise graduate students in speech-language pathology within the UW Speech and Hearing Clinic during direct client contact. Further responsibilities include regular evaluation of students to verify clinical skills. Other duties may include teaching in the area of speech-language pathology or clinical program development as needed. The clinical faculty member will participate in departmental meetings, committees, and events such as student orientations, graduation, and open house.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree in speech-language pathology or Ph.D., CCC-SLP required. Candidates must be ASHA certified and state licensed (or eligible) in speech-language pathology.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of three years of experience working in speech-language pathology and relevant experience in student supervision is required. Interest and expertise in the assessment and treatment of neurogenic communication disorders and/or reading and literacy is preferred, but not required.

License or Certificate:

Candidates must be ASHA certified and state licensed (or eligible) in speech-language pathology.
