The overall goal of this full-time position is to assist in managing the annual giving program at SUNY Cortland by leading the call center, student philanthropy and young alumni programs. This position is also responsible for assisting with email and social media marketing and maintaining accurate information on The Cortland Fund webpages.
Under the direction of the director of the Cortland Fund, the assistant director will coordinate with the Advancement Operations, Development and Alumni Engagement teams, in addition to other campus departments as needed, to ensure the efficiency of their programs and messaging. Major Responsibilities
Administer the call center program by hiring, training and supervising student callers and student managers, developing calling schedules, maintaining all solicitation and stewardship materials, analyzing reports and adapting the program as needed.
Manage the Student Philanthropy program by collaborating with the assistant director of Alumni Engagement to co-advise the Student Alumni Association, leading the Senior Class Gift and all student-related giving initiatives, and being responsible for 1-2 events each semester to educate students about philanthropy and giving at Cortland.
Lead the Young Alumni giving program by collaborating with the assistant director of Alumni Engagement to structure an encompassing Young Alumni program, create a communication timeline, assist with any Young Alumni events, and organize all solicitations.
Assist with Reunion Giving each year. Serve as a liaison to a featured group and assist with their fundraising project.
Select, train and supervise 1-2 Cortland Fund interns per semester.
Develop content, schedule and post all fundraising and/or giving-related content on social media using the Meltwater and Asana systems.
Assist with the creation and editing of email communications in Anthology and ThankView, as well as various types of forms and content pages on Red Dragon Network.
Regularly attend Cortland College Foundation Development committee meetings, staff appropriate meetings, and provide reports on the progress of program efforts.
Work collaboratively to promote the success of all annual giving programs and programs of the Division of Institutional Advancement.
Serve as a member of the campus PCI Compliance Committee and the IA Anthology Committee. Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Reports to the director of The Cortland Fund. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience directly related to fundraising, non-profit, sales, admissions or alumni affairs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Email and social media marketing experience.
- Computer literacy and demonstrated knowledge or experience working with various software packages including database systems, and Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends periodically as needed.
- Graduate degree.
- Experience in Higher Education fundraising.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge, donor management software, and/or Anthology, constituent engagement software.
