Job Summary

Working under the general direction of the Executive Managing Director of the Hammer Theatre, the Financial Analyst oversees and performs all fiscal transactions and contract review and execution for Hammer Presents and SJSU, community and other uses of the Hammer facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fiscal transactions related to events and operations
  • Enter transactions in Quickbooks online
  • Reconcile accounts in Quickbooks with CSU Data Warehouse
  • Generate all transactions and journal entries of event settlements into Quickbooks and CSU Data Warehouse
  • Process client deposits
  • Coordinate direct pays for IATSE payments and client settlements
  • Administrate and perform Hammer Presents contract review and execution
  • Create Purchase Requisitions for Hammer Presents events
  • Oversee deliverables from Purchase Requisitions including timely checks for artists, agents
  • Process internal transfer of funds as needed
  • Administrate and execute artist contract deliverables including artist transportation, housing, and hospitality
  • Assist EMD in artist negotiations and engagement
  • Perform client event settlements cross-checks
  • Oversee and perform fiscal and contract record keeping
  • Attend and scribe bi-weekly staff meetings
  • Assist EMD in fiscal matters as needed including memberships and subscriptions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Ability to apply a high level of judgement, discretion, and initiative in coordinating the Hammer Theatre’s activities with diplomacy and tact to large and diverse number of clients and users
  • Ability to perform business math, analyze salary data, calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make accurate projections.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organization, administration and management, organizational structure, functions and activities of the performing arts and higher education arenas
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply extensive expertise to complex principles and practices of fiscal management
  • Knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration and operational and fiscal management.
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques
  • Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment, handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan multiple projects
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures; computers and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, and databases such as PeopleSoft/Oracle and accounting programs such as Quickbooks and Excel
  • Knowledge and demonstrated command of business math and business budgeting

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training
  • Administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS related to disciplines in accounting, finance; Education in the performing arts a plus
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in accounting, finance or business management


Classification: Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Nonexempt
Salary Range: $3,288/month - $6,347/month
