Summary of Job Duties:Position Summary

This position works under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Students and provides support services to students with disabilities.

General Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule interpreters for deaf/hard of hearing students for all campuses;

Serve as the primary contact for students with disabilities;

Collect, review and maintain confidentiality of student disability documentation and all FERPA bound student records and communications;

Interview and register students with the disability services office and determine appropriate accommodations.

Assist students with disabilities in the admissions process, financial aid, career planning, and the selection of coursework.

Serve as a liaison between students and faculty in the provision of accommodations.

Provide entrance and classroom testing accommodations for students with disabilities as needed.

Assist with training for faculty and staff on topics related to effectively serving students with disabilities.

Coordinate services for low-vision/blind students including assistive technology needs and textbook formatting.

Collaborate with state and community agencies to provide services to disability students.

Provide general academic advising services to general population students as needed.

Assist in the development and delivery of new student orientation, student resource fairs, and preview/recruitment events.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, education, higher education or a related area from accredited institution;

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the two-year college student;

  • Customer and solutions oriented with a strong commitment to customer service, while maintaini ng compliance with policies and ADA guidelines.



  • Commitment to the mission of a comprehensive two-year college and an understanding of the different components of a student services operation.



Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience serving students in a two-year college environment;



  • Two (2) years of experience working in a higher education setting as a counselor or with disability services; and ;

  • Knowledgeable of assessment measures (academic, vocational, psycho-social) and accommodation protocol;

  • Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within courses and classrooms, as related to serving students with disabilities ;

  • Knowledge of community social agencies, services and resources for the disabled.

  • Master's Degree Preferred



Salary Information:

$38,000 - $42,000
