The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a world-renowned, international research university in Hong Kong.  The Center for Language Education invites applications for teaching-track faculty positions at Lecturer to Senior Lecturer ranks.

Applicants are invited to specify whether they would like to be considered at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.  Level of appointment will be determined based on experience in administrative leadership and track record of scholarly output. 

The appointee is required to teach a range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Chinese Communication for Putonghua/Cantonese speakers, or Cantonese for non-native speakers of the language.  Competence in using technology for teaching is expected.  Applications are particularly welcome from teachers with expertise in intercultural communication or teaching Chinese for Specific Purposes for students who already have a strong background in Chinese.

Applicants should have a first degree and a master’s degree in Chinese language, applied linguistics or language education and preferably a recognized language teaching qualification.  Experience in teaching Chinese language/communication at tertiary/senior secondary level is required. (Duration: 2 years)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
