Cheer Coach


**Non-benefits eligible position**

Lasell University invites applications for the part-time position of Head Cheer Coach. Lasell's 54-acre campus is located in Newton, MA, a community located ten miles west of Boston. The co-educational institution, offering professionally oriented baccalaureate and master's degree programs, has an enrollment of 1400 full-time undergraduate students.

The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for planning and executing all practice sessions and performances for club cheer team. They will work in coordination with the director of athletes to manage performance and practice schedules. The Athletic Department is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management.

Responsibilities:
  • Training, instruction, and performances of the club cheerleading team
  • Be present at all cheerleading team practices, home athletic events and at any NCA National & Regional competition
  • Choreograph routines and music.
  • Assist Cheerleading team in fundraising efforts
  • Advise the cheerleading captains in travel plans for competitive club cheerleading
  • Coordinating routines with the Lasell University Dance team for performances at home athletic events
  • Ensure safety of participants and monitor environmental (field/court/playing surfaces) conditions
  • Communicate with the director of athletics as needed on issues associated with the club or any of its participants. These issues include, but are not limited to:
    • Travel
    • Injuries
    • Equipment
    • Administrative tasks and responsibilities
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the goals and mission requirements of the University and the Club Sport Program
  • Regular day, evening and weekend hours are required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; previous coaching at the collegiate level is preferred. Remain up-to-date on proper certifications - AACCA spirit safety certification. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the developmental education of students a strong work ethic, organizational skills, computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally within the department, the campus, and the community.
