Job Description

The Postdoctoral Associate will serve as a member of the Epigenomics and Computational Biology Laboratory and the Kehn-Hall Lab in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. The Postdoctoral Associate to work with a team of scientists and researchers on “omics” data integration and analysis to address significant biological questions related to brain development and injury. In addition, the Postdoctoral Associate with coordinate with the Principal Investigator (PI) on various laboratory activities (i.e. experimentation scheduling, development of protocols, training, etc.) in support of the research program. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to work collaboratively and participate in the development of publications for peer-reviewed journals, as well as on grants proposals to funding agencies and other entities. The initial appointment will be a one-year appointment with performance-based extension, and this position will hold the research faculty rank of Postdoctoral Associate.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics/statistics or related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
• First author publications in the fields of bioinformatics, genomics/Epigenomics.
• Demonstrated skills in programming languages and software environments for bioinformatics computing.
• Demonstrated experience in NGS and large-scale ‘omics’ data analyses and strong data analyses skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the neuroscience area
