Job Description

The Coordinator for Recruitment and Talent Services is part of the One University Model that provides coordination and support for multiple employer recruiting functions for 9,000+ active employers including concierge service for employers, high-volume of vetting new employers, jobs & internships, employer education, information sessions, events, tabling, developing and implementing communication strategies, and recruiting best practices recommendations. This position contributes to the mission and goals of Arizona State University by serving as a liaison between employers seeking to recruit at ASU and the Recruitment and Talent Services team; strengthening and enhancing relationships between ASU Career and Professional Development Services (CPDS) and the employing community; and coordinating multiple Recruitment and Talent Services’ functions that connect current students, alumni, and potential employers. 

 

This Coordinator will serve on a Career and Professional Development Services placement team that will serve academic colleges and provide information about industry trends, facilitate connections between employers and students through developmental events, market and share the most recent jobs and internships from Handshake and coordinate introductions between employer-recruiters and interested student-candidates.

The Coordinator must be able to provide excellent customer service (email, phone, in-person) to a diverse set of employers across many sectors. This position works with employers on a variety of recruiting functions including assistance with job postings and making recommendations to improve full-time and part-time postings. While this position is customer service focused, there is also a large degree of work behind the computer including reviewing, vetting, approving and declining requests made through Handshake, the recruiting management system. Additionally, this position includes supervising student employees.

 

This position reports to the Associate Director of Recruitment and Talent Services of CPDS at the Tempe location and will work across all locations of the University as needed.

 

The Coordinator will become knowledgeable and understand the current EOSS initiatives. They will support university functions by attending events and programs beyond the M-F, 8-5 work week, as well as, serve as a catalyst for mobilizing groups of students to programs such as: Game Day Activities, Homecoming, Fall Welcome Events, Family Weekend and other campus traditions. Services are provided for One University in multiple locations in support of the mission.

 

Salary Range

$43,000 - $48,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for and have duties in the following areas:

  • Extensively utilize computer-based recruiting management system to vet and manage a high volume of employer accounts, internship and job postings with recruiters, promote opportunities to students, and communicate with employers via email, phone and in-person.
  • Review and approve a high volume of employer accounts, full-time, part-time and on-campus employment posting requests; follow up with employers accordingly.
  • Consistently communicate regularly and follow-up with employers who have contacted ASU CPDS, from initial inquiry to productive and quality recruitment via phone, email and in-person meetings.
  • Serve on a placement team to support academic colleges through facilitating access between students and employers and providing the most recent job and internship postings.
  • Develop relationships with employers by informing and educating employers of university policies, resources and trends in student recruiting. 
  • Become knowledgeable in the Fair Labor Standards Act and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) best practices.
  • Be knowledgeable and present to employers about internship development, benefits of an internship and tenets of a strong internship program.
  • Supervise a group of student employees and manage student projects to ensure successful student professional development.
  • Work with recruiters from Peace Corp, AmeriCorps and City-Year, as a part of the Make Your Impact initiative, and support them as they develop recruiting strategy to ensure continued success of recruitment goals.
  • Create communication plans and materials including blogs, e-newsletters, marketing campaigns, holiday cards, and other recruitment materials to inform ASU partners of the benefits of recruiting ASU students.
  • Collaborate with employers on creating workshops and information sessions, including reserving event space, managing of event and marketing of event.
  • Serve on University-wide committees and engage in conversations to educate and support academic colleges about industry and employer trends.
  • Demonstrate concierge service by providing information and assistance to employers by following up on inquiries made to ASU Career and Professional Development Services through incoming calls, Salesforce email case management and in-person meetings.
  • Regularly compile reports and data through the recruiting management system regarding employer recruitment and retention to develop strategic recruiting plans.
  • Remain knowledgeable of the recruitment needs and expectations of corporate, healthcare, government and nonprofit organizations to better understand their hiring requirements and preferences.
  • Collaborate with Career Advisors on specific employer caseloads to better educate, inform and connect to students and academic partners across the institution.
  • Become knowledgeable and understand the Career Interest Community model and how employers can best recruit and hire from a wide-range of student talent. 
  • Attend team meetings to discuss experiences, program issues, project proposals and performance feedback.
  • Facilitate, support and present employer education initiatives by coordinating webinars, in-person workshops, and mini-conferences to assist employers with navigating the ASU ecosystem, identifying an ASU talent pipeline and develop a recruiting plan.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Slack, Google Drive, Zoom, and Salesforce.

 

Working Environment

  • Career and Professional Development Services serves students, employers, and alumni in the office and at events that typically take place Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, with additional evenings and weekends required. 
  • Staff have varied schedules during these timeframes to support students and alumni. 
  • Job location is primarily at the Tempe location; however, incumbent will occasionally be required to travel to other ASU locations.
