Xavier University, a Jesuit Catholic University in Cincinnati, Ohio, seeks an experienced and visionary leader as Founding Dean, College of Nursing to provide strategic vision and mission driven leadership to a college whose growth has resulted in its transition from a school in 2019.

Founded in 1831, Xavier University is annually ranked among the nation’s best universities. Xavier’s unique core curriculum and liberal arts education prepare students for future success in a rapidly evolving work environment.  Xavier's four colleges offer 90+ undergraduate majors, 60+ minors, and 40+ graduate programs to approximately 7,000 total students, including 5,000 undergraduates

The College has approximately 1,100 students enrolled in the following programs: baccalaureate (traditional and accelerated BSN); MIDAS (accelerated master’s/prelicensure) program; four master’s programs (education, forensics, family nurse practitioner, and psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner) and an online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Population Health and Leadership program.  The College's strategic plan focuses on academic excellence, Ignatian mission and values, diversity, equity, and inclusion, enrollment and infrastructure expansion, and faculty and staff development.

The Founding Dean will collaborate with the faculty and staff to promote the College’s mission, implement the strategic plan, and create an environment that encourages growth and innovations.  The Dean will foster scholarship, research, and collaboration with community partners.  Reporting to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the Dean is expected to work collaboratively with the deans across Xavier to ensure excellent programs that serve the students, promote the Jesuit values, and serve the community in Cincinnati and across the United States.

The successful candidate will be student focused, with excellent interpersonal, communication, administrative, and organizational skills; and have the ability to articulate a vision that encourages and inspires quality program growth.  Minimum requirements include an unencumbered license as a nurse in the state of Ohio or eligibility for licensure, an earned doctorate from an accredited institution with at least one graduate degree in nursing; a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship; prior academic administrative experience; proven success in external fund development; and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Professor in nursing.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited.  Applications should include a curriculum vitae and cover letter, which includes a brief statement on how the candidate might support/contribute to Xavier’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.  Materials should be sent via email to XavierDeanNursing@wittkieffer.com.  Inquiries may be directed to Joyce De Leo, Ph.D. at 630-575-6177, or Claudia Teschky at 630-575-6172, the WittKieffer consultants supporting this search.

Xavier University is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to enhancing equity, inclusion, and diversity.  All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination

on the basis of race, skin color, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability.
