Position Summary:

This position serves as the research program manager for Dr. Cindy Carlsson's research team. Dr. Carlsson's research focuses on clinical studies evaluating early detection, risk factors and potential preventive therapies for Alzheimer's disease. The program conducts a variety of clinical trials and research studies at the UW Hospital and at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison and works closely with research participants from diverse communities across the state. The successful candidate in this position will provide leadership to the research team using strong communication and organizational skills, coordinate communication and other administrative functions with other offices, program sponsors and collaborators, and oversee research-related administrative operations within Dr. Carlsson's program. The lab is housed within the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology, and is also a part of the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, a large lab with many interconnected teams, labs, and core resources.

The successful candidate will serve as team lead for Dr. Carlsson's clinical research lab, administrative contact for the lab's research projects, and as liaison to various university/ college/ departmental offices as well as other local, state and federal research entities for Alzheimer's disease. The successful candidate will be expected to facilitate scientific and programmatic collaborations with other investigators and program managers at the UW Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, across campus, and with national and international co-investigators. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the PI to build and maintain a positive and inclusive team environment.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- At least two years of relevant experience in a clinical research setting required.
- Experience in Alzheimer's research preferred.
- Professional experience with progressively increasing responsibility in academic programmatic and operations management strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in project management and supervising other academic/university staff preferred.
- Familiarity with sample processing and management is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with research-related contracts and working knowledge of university policies related to research desired.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience is required for an appointment at the senior level.

The successful applicant will understand the importance of attention to detail and of appropriate and timely documentation of all activities. Most critical is the ability to manage many detailed projects at one time, complete projects in a timely manner and meet strict deadlines required by review committees and boards, as well as by investigators. Prior work experience should demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and collegiality among peers.

There will be opportunity for travel to conferences and/or other research sites.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
