The Biology Program at Bard College is seeking colleagues to fill two tenure-line, open-rank positions. Successful applicants will join a team of faculty committed to creating a rich and rigorous curriculum that serves all of our students. These two positions provide an opportunity for coordinated hires, particularly those that would foster a more diverse faculty. Successful applicants will have a commitment to working with a diverse student population, and participating in the program’s ongoing work to support diversity, equity and inclusion. They will be interested in teaching courses on a range of topics, which could include genetics, development, neurobiology, physiology, immunology, or biostatistics, as well as their specific area of expertise.

The Biology Program and Bard College are committed to providing new faculty with formal and informal mentoring experiences. In addition to mentoring within the program, each entering cohort of new faculty at the College has two designated mentors who work with the group for a two-year period, supporting faculty in areas outside of their programmatic homes. In addition, Bard is a member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) and supports faculty participation in NCFDD workshops and programs.

The successful candidates will also support student research in their area of expertise.

We are particularly interested in faculty with expertise in neurobiology, physiology, immunology, or developmental biology. Research facilities include state-of-the-art microscopic imaging, qPCR, in-house sequencing, and support for invertebrate and/or aquatic organisms. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a biological field.

Bard College is a highly selective liberal arts college located 90 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River.
