The assistant professor of marketing communications will help grow the departments innovative undergraduate interdisciplinary major. Evidence of successful workplace experience in digital marketing communications or related areas, as well as expertise in marketing communications theory and practice and teaching experience at the college level is needed. This is a full-time, probationary tenure track position.

This position will focus on instructing courses in traditional areas of marketing communications including, but not limited to:
  • Advertising
  • Persuasion
  • Personal Branding
  • Senior Seminar, a course that prepares graduating seniors for entry into the marketing
  • Other courses based on the individual’s area of study or specialty
Instruction should be approached from an application-based perspective that combines Marketing Communications’ foundations and principles with current and historically topical events, campaigns, and issues. Global, ethical, and diversity-based subject matter should be included within the courses. In addition, creation of new courses that fit personal interests and align with the department’s vision.

Salary Range: Low to mid $50’s     RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaching four classes each semester
  • Providing academic advising services to undergraduate students
  • Participating in curriculum development
  • Assisting with program administrative duties including supporting assessment activities and marketing/community outreach
  • Developing relationships with regional professionals and trade organizations
  • Serving on program, departmental and UW-River Falls committees
  • Mentoring students in undergraduate research related to their areas of expertise 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in marketing communications, marketing, or related field
  • At least two years of professional work in marketing, public relations, advertising, social media marketing or related field.
  • A demonstrable record of at least two years of successful college-level teaching. May include courses taught while in graduate school.
