The Video Editor will be responsible for assisting in shaping the style of the Marketing video team taking direction from Senior team members. They will be responsible for keeping assignments on track and completed on time. The Video Editor is responsible for editing marketing video franchises and features for desktop, mobile and social platforms. Demonstrated knowledge, experience and passion for multimedia storytelling is essential. The Video Editor is a creative, passionate storyteller with sharp attention to detail and ability to craft a story that best exemplifies the Syracuse University brand. It is also important that the Video Editor is digitally savvy and is comfortable crafting stories in a number of different formats to advance marketing and business goals, often as part of larger Marketing and Communications plans and campaigns. Makes all aspects of multimedia story board, script, music selection consistent with other elements of campaigns. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in digital media, media production, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience editing video for a variety of projects and clients.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Compelling portfolio of work across a number of styles, lengths, formats/demonstrates multimedia excellence as part of broader campaigns that yielded tangible results.
  • Requires intermediate to adv. knowledge of video post-prod related software including, but not limited to Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of motion graphics animation w/ use of After Effects, including ability to work w/design files from team.
  • Requires a basic- intermediate understanding of audio mixing, color theory, typography, color correction; close visual acuity to perform related tasks.
  • Sound editing/design w/Adobe Audition / ProTools exp. a plus.
  • Experience managing video file formats /delivery systems.
  • Working knowledge of asset management systems, MSOffice.
  • Experience with shared video storage a plus.
  • Significant experience/technical understanding shooting, editing, archiving systems /approaches.
  • Ability to perceive nature of sounds at normal speaking levels w/wo correction.
  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual equipment across campus to various sites and for events; ability to move, lift (25-50 lbs repeatedly at multiple assignments), set up/break down photo/video equipment.
  • Flexibility/ability to position oneself to shoot a variety of images. Shoots may require standing, sitting, and kneeling for 4-8 hrs.
Responsibilities
  • Ingest, organize, and edit video footage (live action/B-roll/screen capture/multicamera) with accompanying narrative tracks, overlays, and graphics as applicable, while ensuring the highest quality editing standards.
  • Collaborates effectively with other video team members, producers, creatives, and project managers.
  • Maintain an organized post production process including asset management, project management, and post-production review.
  • Ensures accessibility standards are met and brand guidelines are reflected in video content.
  • Ability to understand multiple businesses and willingness to learn new techniques along the way.
