Working independently under general supervision of the Director of
University Public Engagement ( UPE ), the UPE Office
Coordinator/Assistant to Director oversees daily front office
operations and performs a variety of moderately complex
administrative functions, providing continuity and stability to the
UPE office. Responsibilities include significant coordination of
commencement events and Chico Performances artist programming
support. In addition, this position provides support to University
Public Events, Business Coordinator in the areas of accounts
receivable/payable, procurement, budget tracking, budget
projection, and financial reports. The office of University Public
Engagement is a service unit within University Advancement with
strong emphasis on service and community. All members of the UPE
Team are expected to support one another to achieve our mission
goals in service to university and community.

Required Education and/or Experience
This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in
standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to
understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be
obtained through completion of a high school program,
technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with
three years of related office work experience.
Additional Requirements for this Position
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they
may be considered specialized skills:
- One year of recent, work experience performing revenue and
expense reconciliation and/or managing budgets for a public or
non-profit organization, with multiple funding sources.
- One year of recent work experience using CMS Financial and
Insight, or similar software.
- Two years recent, relevant, administrative support experience,
including event coordination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- California State University, Chico, in accordance with CSU
policy, requires that the successful candidate complete a
background check (including a criminal records check, sexual
offender registry check, and/or fingerprinting) prior to assuming
this position. Failure to satisfactorily complete or pass the
background check may impact the job offer or continued employment
of current CSU employees who apply for posted positions identified
as sensitive. This position is considered a sensitive position
based on CSU guidelines.
- The person holding this position is considered a “Limited
Mandated Reporter” under the California ChildAbuse and Neglect
Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set
forth in CSU ExecutiveOrder 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a
condition of employment.
- Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain
a valid California Driver’s License as wellas continued completion
and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver’s Training course.
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential
job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable
accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a
stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods
of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able
to travel/move to other building or locations, on and off campus,
for meetings and events. Must be able to move/transport materials
or supplies (not to exceed 30 lbs) for event support. Event related
duties are occasionally performed in auditoriums, theaters or
outdoor settings, and may involve uneven surfaces, crowds, noise,
dirt, dust, and/or inclement weather.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is performed in a typical office environment operating
standard office equipment. Position involves frequent interaction
with students, faculty, alumni, parents, and colleagues to perform
essential job functions. Early morning, evening, and weekend hours
may be required, to attend events and complete work projects.
Occasional support for outdoor events is required.
This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver
CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick
leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU
benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a
period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than
half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU
benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.
Eligibility for Affordable Care Act ( ACA ) benefits is based on an
appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum
of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works
an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement
period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash
only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
