West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Neonatologist to join our established group in our level IV NICU practice qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice at our expanding Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, WV. In addition to providing excellent patient care, they will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and improving the care of neonatal patients through quality improvement projects or research.

Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as “University Health Associates,” Mon Health Medical Center, Wheeling Hospital and Berkeley Medical Center [etc.] located in West Virginia and, as such, travel is anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency program and be fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in neonatology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

With an anticipated opening of early 2022, our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There will also be a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
