General Summary

Illinois State University and the School of Information Technology invites applications for two tenure-track positions of Assistant Professor and Assistant/Associate Professor in Cybersecurity, beginning August 16, 2022.

Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Applicants with an expected completion of the doctoral degree before May 2023 will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to teach in various areas in cybersecurity, such as, but not limited to, secure software development, digital forensics, malware analysis, incident response, and hardware security. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to conduct successful research related to the technical, organizational, or human-centered dimensions of cybersecurity, or other related areas, and to publish in high-quality outlets. Candidates must demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses, develop a focused area of scholarly research, supervise graduate students, and provide service to the University, College, School, profession and community. We are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated interest in mentoring first-generation students and those from other traditionally under-represented groups. For consideration for appointment at the rank of associate professor, applicants should have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarship.

Salary, Rank, and Tenure: Salary is commensurate with professional experience and preparation. These are two tenure-track, nine-month positions with the possibility for summer employment. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

The School: The School of Information Technology (http://www.it.illinoisstate.edu) is one of eight units in the College of Applied Science and Technology. The School offers undergraduate majors in Computer Science (CS), Cybersecurity, Information Systems (IS), and Network and Telecommunications Management and two Master of Science programs: Computer Science and Information Systems. The undergraduate Cybersecurity program is certified as a CAE-CD. The undergraduate CS and IS programs are accredited by ABET. The School has approximately 830 undergraduate students, 72 graduate students and 23 full-time faculty.

The College of Applied Science and Technology: The College of Applied Science and Technology (http://www.cast.ilstu.edu) is home to a variety of disciplines, which include: Department of Agriculture, Department of Criminal Justice Sciences, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Department of Health Sciences, School of Information Technology, School of Kinesiology and Recreation, Department of Military Science and Department of Technology.
