Kenyon College is seeking applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Film to begin in Fall 2022. We welcome applications from both narrative and documentary filmmakers. The position will require teaching at least one production class a year as well as a film studies class of the candidate’s choosing.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching at least one section of the “Introduction to Film” class a year. Total teaching load is five classes per year (3-2 or 2-3 by semester) We are particularly interested in applicants whose creative work and teaching focuses on Black and/or Latinx experiences and/or the representation of people of color, and whose teaching addresses one or more of the following: production, screenwriting, editing or cinematography.

Candidates must possess an MFA and should have at least two years of teaching experience (or commensurate professional experience) and a demonstrated track record of artistic excellence. A complete application will include: 1) A cover letter detailing teaching experience and teaching philosophy, including methods for incorporating issues related to diversity, inclusion and equity into teaching and advising, as well as a description of artistic work; 2) A curriculum vitae; and 3) Contact information for three recommenders. Letters of reference, samples of film work, and unofficial transcripts will be requested from candidates selected for an initial interview.
