Loyola University Chicago’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies ( SCPS ) invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position of Clinical Assistant Professor for our Information Technology programs. This is a 12-month appointment that includes teaching, service and administrative oversight.

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies serves adult learners with a variety of educational programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We provide a supportive and flexible environment for our students, staff, and faculty. The school is located near Chicago’s historic Water Tower, and within steps of Chicago’s business and governmental communities. The School celebrated 100 years of service to adult learners in Chicago in 2014 and is poised for new growth. It is part of a Jesuit network of schools for working adults in the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include program oversight of our BA in Information Technology, BA in Web Technologies, and technology-related certificates. Program oversight includes mentoring students and assisting with curriculum, program, and faculty development, along with assisting the development of new adult-education and workplace-oriented programs, including graduate programs, corporate training, and non-credit training.

The candidate will teach 8 courses a year within our technology programs, with possible occasional teaching of School requirements ( CPST 200 Introduction to Degree Completion, CPST 201 Civic Identity and Development, and CPST 397 Capstone). Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications include a minimum of an earned master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a record of supporting learners. A doctorate and/or experience with adult and online programs are strongly preferred. Appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor is contingent on completed doctorate; candidates with a Master’s degree will be appointed as Instructor.

We are seeking candidates with strong organizational and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with stakeholders in other parts of the University, a capacity for leadership, an interest in educational innovation, a commitment to social justice, and a willingness to serve the university, profession, and community. We are interested in candidates who have professional experience outside of higher education and have an ability to adapt to change.

We are also seeking candidates who identify with and appreciate our population of diverse and non-traditional students, and can support and promote their success within technology fields. In holistically accessing the many qualifications of each applicant, we would factor favorably an individual’s record that includes experience with an array of diverse perspectives, as well as a wide variety of different educational or work activities. Among other qualifications, we would also value experience overcoming or helping others overcome barriers to an academic career or degrees.
