The PCC Veterans Education Benefits Office is a dynamic team of 5 staff dedicated solely to serving veterans and students with Veterans benefits in pursuit of their higher education goals. PCC is the largest community college in Oregon, and we support students on 4 campuses and remotely in collaboration with PCC's Financial Aid Office, Veterans Resource Centers, Student Accounts, and other college partners.

  • Experience with a higher education Student Management System
  • Familiarity with VA Education Benefit Programs
  • Proven success delivering service to students in a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with regulations in a compliance environment
  • Open to constantly learn and adapt to changing VA and institutional rules, operations, systems
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize multiple job priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Skill working with and explaining account statements


Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Associate’s degree in business, social science or related area. (Note: Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.)
  • Two years experience providing technical assistance and guidance to others, working with complex procedures and regulations, analyzing and interpreting data, and records management (both electronic and hard copy)
  • One year of the above experience must be in a college setting
  • Must have good communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of people.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ellucian Banner
  • Experience or working knowledge of VAOnce software
  • Familiarity with community college student trends and needs
  • Experience Coaching or advising students about educational programs or college financing
  • Experience working with veterans or knowledge of veterans issues
  • Familiarity with providing documentation for compliance survey or audit


Position Grade 20 Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $46,997 to $48,404 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $46997 to $75414 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age. Partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions (full-time employees only).

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

  • Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
  • 8 hours of sick leave per month
  • 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year
  • 11 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is performed in an office environment with some exposure to noise. Exposure to a video display terminal will occur on a regular basis. Some evening and Saturday work is necessary on a rotational basis. Job demands can be difficult due to heavy work flow, the meeting deadlines, continual interruptions, changing regulations and competing priorities. Background Check Required Yes
