Job Description:

The Coordinator, Veteran Student Success Center will coordinate activities to implement the Veterans Student Success Center (VSSC) project, including supervising staff and providing management support. Works collaboratively with all areas of the college to ensure that the needs of the students are met and to develop communication and coordination between departments. Conducts program and staff evaluations for continuous improvement and accountability; analyzes and compares project and institutional data. The Coordinator, (VSSC) is responsible for fiscal expenditures. The Coordinator, VSSC works collaboratively with Project Director to fulfill federal reporting requirements. Develops and coordinates delivery of orientation module specific to veteran students. Supervises the VSSC staff activities to support student recruitment, retention, academic preparation, and program development. Understands and assures compliance with GEPA and GPRA accountability standards. Serves as the coordinator of the Veteran Student Support Team (VSST). Acts as a referral agent for students who may need services of another department/program, business or community service. Manages and submits accurate documentation as required by the college and the grantor. Coordinates with other appropriate college and community stakeholders, including veterans/military affiliated organizations. Compiles assessments and data for analysis, action, and evaluation in collaboration with the Dean, Grants & Federal Programs, and the office of Institutional Research. Works effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations. This position reports to the Dean, Grants and Federal Programs.

Grant Funded Position. Pending Board Approval.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in education, counseling, student development, social work, business administration, or related field. Two years full-time experience in career counseling, recruitment services, academic advising, student services, individual or public-school counseling; or designing, managing, or implementing a similar veterans program. Supervisory experience, computer and strong interpersonal skills, are required. Must demonstrate an understanding of veterans’ unique learning needs. Successful results of a background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer Coordinator be a military veteran; will consider a minimum of two years of experience providing supportive services to military populations. Preference is given to qualified individuals from a background similar to the target population. Qualifications are related to services designed to achieve the goals and objectives of the project.

ANNUAL SALARY: $40,800.00
