Position Summary:

This position is a Financial Specialist Senior position within the UW-Madison Facilities Planning and Management's (FP&M) Business Operations and Purchasing Services Office (BOP). Annually, the BOP team issues over 500 purchase orders (Specific, Blanket Orders and Contract Blanket Orders) and processes over $85 million in accounts payable transactions that lead to the creation of major billings for FP&M departments including Physical Plant, Transportation, Fleet, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS).

This position is part of a team which the primary responsibilities include auditing and processing accounts payable transactions, auditing and processing accounts payable transactions, travel reimbursements, purchasing card holder credit card statements, MOD purchase transactions, and direct payments. The team also audits hundreds of utility bills for facilities across the entire campus. All these transactions are audited and processed within compliance of FP&M, UW-Madison, UW-System, and the State of Wisconsin procurement policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and timelines.

Team members must be extremely detail oriented, have the ability to manage multiple tasks at various stages of completeness, adhere to strict timelines, have solid computer skills, and must be comfortable working in a heavy volume, fast-paced environment.

2+ years accounting, accounts payable, or other related work experience.

Additional Information:

Preferred Qualifications
1. 1-2 years accounts payable auditing.
2. Basic understanding of financial software applications.
3. Experience reviewing, interpreting, and applying complex policies and procedures to a variety of complex financial transactions.
4. Strong Excel skills along with solid understanding of Microsoft Access.
5. Ability to adapt to ever-changing, fast paced, work environment with a positive attitude.
6. Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
7. Provide exceptional customer service
