The Student Life Specialist I will focus on student-centered activities that encourage engagement, involvement, and leadership. These include, but are not limited to, New Student Orientations, Safe Colleges Training, Rec-Sports, annual student-centered events, and collaborations with other departments, all which support the mission of the Student Life Department and the College. Minimum Education/Training/Experience
  • Associates Degree required
  • Minimum of 1-2 years related work experience
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelors Degree preferred

Licensing/Certification Requirements
CPR / AED Training Job Duties
Coordinates and assists advisors with all travel and events for Student Club and Organizations including work orders and room reservations to ensure all trips and activities are approved and well organized.

Assists Club and Organization Advisors in managing budgets; meets with treasurers regularly.

Collects data for Club and Organization events/activities. Reports data to the Director of Student Life and the Student Government Association.

Provides training and guidance for Club and Organization Advisors, Officers and members including updating and editing the Club and Organization handbook.

Responsible for updating all items related to Club and Organizations including but not limited to webpages, handbooks, and catalogs.

Coordinates Risk Management and Title IX online training for all Students while working closely with the Director of Student Life and the Title IX Coordinator.

Data collection for Risk Management and Title IX, & reports data to the Director of Student Life and Title IX Coordinator.

Assists the Director of Student Life with planning and executing workshops and events that provide Risk Management and Title IX information to the campus while working with the Title IX coordinator to keep the college in compliance with the law.

Assist the Director of Student Life with the planning and execution of major student-centered events (i.e., new student orientations and other Student Life events). Recruit students to assist with, and participate in, these activities and events.

Responsible for oversight of the Student Center and Recreation room area, specifically gaming equipment, TVs, and furniture, to ensure all are in good repair and usable (requesting Maintenance support as needed), as well as maintaining an adequate supply of gaming equipment.

Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Exemplify superior customer service in overseeing the new student experience.

Train and supervise the part-time and work study Student Life staff, whose duties include but are not limited to staffing the Welcome Desk area, providing campus tours, and issuing parking permits/ COM ID’s.

Envision and support a first-year experience model that encourages collaboration across institutional barriers.

Develop strategies to measure and report on customer service outcomes and event satisfaction.

Maximize the utilization of existing technology and identify new technological tools to enhance and improve customer service including developing reports needed to manage the Welcome desk operations.

Document standard operating procedures to ensure the smooth and efficient Welcome desk operations.

Work closely with strategic marketing and other stakeholders to ensure content is relevant, effective, and customer service focused.

Assists with commencement and other college wide events as needed.

All other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Physical Requirements
· Positions in this class typically require walking or standing for extended periods of time; lifting, pushing, pulling and moving equipment, furniture etc.
· Medium Work- Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
