The Notre Dame of Maryland (NDMU) Physician Assistant Studies Program is seeking an industrious and energetic Physician Assistant (PA) or Physician to join our team of PA Educators as the Director of Clinical Education. The well-qualified, right-fit candidate will join a team that includes an experienced Program Director, Medical Director, a Director of Academics, a Principal Faculty member, several adjunct instructors, and an Administrative Coordinator. This team of high-caliber individuals will embrace and carry forward the programs commitment to leading PA students to becoming well trained, competent and compassionate Physician Assistants. The Director of Clinical Education will participate in the clinical and administrative aspects of the program, including some (limited) classroom instruction, evaluation and recruitment of clinical sites/preceptors, oversight of all clinical experience related administrative activities, student assessments during the clinical phase of the program, and participation in program accreditation activities. The NDMU PA Studies Program provides faculty with consistent and reliable administrative support, opportunities for professional growth and development, admission process support, and multiple fringe benefits. In addition, clinical release time is available to PAs or Physicians who continue to participate in part-time clinical practice.

Primary responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  1. Support the clinical phase of the PA Program through attentive oversight of all aspects of student engagement during the clinical year, educating and maintaining relationships with individual preceptors, and supervised clinical practice experience site assessments.
  2. Engagement in the PA programs self-assessment activities; active participation as a chair or as a voting member on essential committees, as assigned by the PA Program Director.
  3. Acting as a mentor and guide for new PA Program faculty.
  4. Acting as a mentor and (formal) advisor for PA students.
  5. Actively participate in PA program student application review processes, interviews, and admission processes.
  6. Engaging in curriculum development, delivery, review, and assessment activities.
  7. Acting as a course director and/or co-instructor, as is appropriate and as assigned, in support of didactic instruction and assessments.
  8. Responsible for organizing, managing, and overseeing all aspects of the clinical phase of the PA Program for all PA students.
  9. In collaboration with the PA Program Director, develop and implement policies, procedures, processes, and documents that meet or exceed all (most current) ARC-PA Standards (5th Edition) that pertain to the Clinical Phase of the PA Program.


Job Qualifications

  1. Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Medical School.
  2. Educational Requirement: Possession of Masters degree is a minimum requirement for Physician Assistants (PAs); Doctorate Degree is preferred.
  3. Current and valid NCCPA Certification for Physician Assistants; Maryland licensure, or eligibility for licensure, is required for PAs.
  4. Current and valid Maryland licensure is required for Physicians; Board Certified by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved specialty board is also required.
  5. A minimum of three years of clinical practice experience as a PA or Physician.
  6. Experience delivering instruction in a graduate medical education program is highly desired.
