Position Information
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching both graduates and undergraduates, research and scholarship and service which entails committee work at various levels of the University. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

With many of our faculty moving into retirement, our new faculty colleague will have the opportunity to help us shape the future of social work in this largely rural region. This will mean supporting the development of creative and innovative pedagogy; research which may include work around trauma, poverty, substance abuse and post-disaster recovery efforts; and a multitude of community service and community-engaged teaching projects.

Minimum Education and Experience
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a master’s degree in Social Work, two years of post MSW practice experience, and an earned doctorate in Social Work or related field. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022.

The Department: The School of Social Work at Chico State serves approximately 170 BSW and 110 MSW students annually through both an on-campus program and a distributed learning (on-line, hybrid) program that largely serves our 18-county region of Northern California.

The mission of the School of Social Work is to provide accessible, high quality education for generalist practice at the baccalaureate level and advanced generalist practice at the graduate level. We educate students to be ethical, knowledgeable, and versatile practitioners and leaders who value collaboration, social and economic justice, and lifelong learning. The School was granted re-accreditation by CSWE in spring 2018.
