SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY FACULTY POSITION
DIVISION OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE


The Department of Human Performance, Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a full-time, tenure track (12-month) Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. The faculty will contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Communication Sciences and Disorders housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching, establish and/or maintain a funded research program, direct student research, and participate in clinical practice. Individuals with expertise in speech sound disorders, developmental language disorders, fluency disorders, and/or augmentative and alternative communication are encouraged to apply but all applications will be reviewed. Specifically, the successful candidate will participate in area(s) of scholarship appropriate to areas of expertise leading to peer-reviewed publications and external funding. In addition, the faculty member will provide instruction to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will also participate in dissemination of research findings in various formats including regional, national, and international conference podiums and posters, and peer-reviewed journals; contribute to a department culture of collegiality, collaboration, and trust; will promote and demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness, and will seek to promote partnerships within the department, community, and other related programs. Active engagement in departmental, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

Qualifications :

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:
  • PhD completed no later than August 1, 2022;
  • Current or eligible for a West Virginia Speech-Language Pathology license;
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or eligible for CCC-SLP;
  • Record of publications commensurate with experience.
All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.

The appointment date is negotiable but would begin on or around July 1, 2022, with the goal to have the successful candidate identified no later than March 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
