Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive program strategically designed to engage a growing population of alumni in the life and mission of Elmhurst University. The Director will develop and deliver meaningful programs and services to alumni across the country. The Director is key staff liaison with the Alumni Association Board. The Director works with the Annual Giving team, Constituent Relations team, and Major Gift Officers to increase alumni giving participation.

Essential Functions
- Works closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement to create and lead an engaging, innovative, and creative alumni engagement program.
- Plans and implements the University’s major annual alumni events including but not limited to Homecoming, class reunions, and regional alumni events in collaboration with Constituent Relations Colleagues.
- Provides staff leadership to the Elmhurst University Alumni Board, working closely with the Board’s volunteer president to set strategies, goals, and meeting agendas for the Board.
- Manages the award process for Faculty Merit Award, Senior of the Year Award, Alumni Merit Award, sponsored by the Alumni Association.
- Solicits Alumni Board members and other assigned prospects for annual gifts.
- Strengthens the University’s Reunion Program, working closely with Annual Giving staff to implement a robust reunion giving program.
- Partners with major gift officers to aid in cultivation to engage major, annual, and planned gift prospects.
- Conducts strategic visits to cultivate and solicit new gifts.
- Solicits for new and renewal President’s Circle members – $1,000 or more annual gifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 3-5 years in alumni engagement role and/or higher education advancement position.
- A strong work ethic with an ability to work alone and within a larger team.
- Ability to support and represent Elmhurst University’s mission and core values.
- A commitment to the University’s diversity, equity, inclusion and responsible citizenship core values.
- A desire and ability to collaborate within the Office of Institutional Advancement and across various academic and administrative departments.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed, with some overnight travel required.
- Experience with an advancement database.
- Experience with the Raiser’s Edge database
- Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions.
- Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
