The Department of English seeks to hire an assistant professor of
English with a specialty in Technical Writing who can research and
teach in one or more of the following areas: 1) rhetorics of
science, technology, and medicine; 2) visual or digital
rhetoric/critical digital literacy; 3) cultural rhetorics with an
emphasis on race. The position is a 3/3 course load with
responsibilities that include teaching technical writing at a
variety of levels, from first-year courses to upper level technical
writing courses to graduate courses in our Rhetoric and Composition
M.A. Concentration. The Department of English advises the
student-run Spinnaker Media; we direct the university’s “Writing
Around the Curriculum” Quality Enhancement Plan; and we coordinate
interdisciplinary minors in Digital Humanities and Africana
Studies. The successful candidate would expand our offerings in one
or more of these areas. The department values equity and diversity
and community-based learning and will prioritize applications that
directly incorporate these values into teaching, research, and
service.
