Job Summary

Develop, implement and maintain model structures and applications created and/or supplied by other programmers.

Responsibilities

This position is a member of the Administrative Applications and Analytics team of the VSU Information Technology Division. The AAA Team develops and supports our custom business applications as well as third-party enterprise systems.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Programming Assistance - 30%
Provide assistance with programming projects that support the development, implementation, and maintenance of model structures and applications that support the mission of the university.

Review and test - 30%
Review program specifications to confirm logic and time estimates with senior programmers. Test programs to ensure compliance with specifications.

Professional Development - 30%
Develop proficiency in programming and other tools used in the development of applications and model structures through professional development and training opportunities.

Project documentation - 10%
Complete and maintain project documentation.

 

Supervisor Expectations:

  • Work as a member of the team and communicate with the manager daily on progress and other requests made of them
  • Follow all established protocols and procedures regarding application development and data security
  • Experience in Oracle database (SQL, PL/SQL) and Oracle Application Express
  • Communicate clearly with functional users on systems specs, programming requirements, and procedures
  • Document processes in a detailed and efficient manner
Required Qualifications

Required Experience
Associate's degree and one (1) year of related work experience.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
