This position will integrate with existing programmatic and faculty expertise in the College of Science and Humanities to teach courses required for the Husson University General Education curriculum and the mathematics minor. Mathematics faculty also teach core courses required for science degrees within the college, including Biology, Exercise Science, and Health Sciences programs. The successful candidate is expected to fulfill the institutional expectations for teaching, service, advising, and research and scholarship. Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. The University is dedicated to offering premier professional programs designed to maximize experiential learning opportunities and student success. Bangor has been ranked as one of the top 50 small cities in the U.S. It offers a safe, affordable community with excellent education and healthcare, easy access to major urban centers, and a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities. Year round activities can be enjoyed on the numerous lakes, trails, and ski areas. The University is approximately 40 minutes west of the Maine coast and the nearby mountains of Acadia National Park and an hour south of the newly designated Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching responsibilities include courses in algebra,
pre-calculus, and/or calculus and upper-level courses within the
candidate's area of specialization, based on the needs of the
department. The position requires teaching 24 credits per academic
year. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty
expectations for advising, service, and scholarship. The position
involves service to the College, participation in admissions
events, and interaction with the internal and external community in
a collegial and professional manner at all times.
Note: This is a face-to-face position; candidates are expected
to be on campus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requirements for the position include an earned terminal degree in
mathematics, mathematics education, or an associated field; Ph.D.
preferred, master's degree with experience or ABD considered. The
successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to
effective teaching and student learning, as well as the ability to
collaborate across disciplines to develop outstanding educational
opportunities for students. Preference will be given to applicants
with experience teaching courses at the university level.
The start date is fall 2022, with the possibility to start as early
as January 2022. Review of applications will begin on October 12,
