About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
Northeastern University—Silicon Valley is hiring two part-time Operations Assistants at its campus location within the Towers @ 2nd (4 N. Second Street and 75 E. Santa Clara Street). Individuals with evening and weekend schedule flexibility should apply.

The operations team is made up of bright, dynamic collaborators that have a direct impact on campus environment and culture. Operations Assistants provide quality reception coverage, office operations support, and ensure that students and faculty on campus are appropriately set up to conduct in-person classes. They provide welcoming and prompt service to a variety of Northeastern's community members, prospective students, and on-campus event attendees.

These are part-time/temporary positions at $18 an hour, with 20-25 hours required per week. They would start immediately and continue into late December 2021, with a probable opportunity for employment extension. Candidates must be available to work weekday evenings from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Saturdays between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and intermittent Sundays from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm.

The position is held on site (not eligible for remote work) and reports to the Campus Operations Manager. All Northeastern employees are required to follow COVID-19 protocols, which will include weekly COVID-19 testing beginning September 2021. COVID-19 tests are self-administered, free, and available on site.

Responsibilities:
Operations Assistants will be responsible for supporting campus operations, including:

  • Staffing the campus for class sessions outside of standard business hours and acting as the first point of contact for a variety of stakeholders

  • Providing customer service to students and professors, which may include troubleshooting technical issues and assisting with classroom technology

  • Handling classroom setup, breakdown, and reconfiguration as needed

  • Following university and facility health and safety procedures

  • Acting as a liaison to authorized visitors such as students and employees from other locations, business partners, and prospective learners

  • Completing general office duties such as organizing files, inventories, supplies, and equipment, and maintaining the campus areas in a clean, sanitized, and stocked manner

  • Administrative projects as assigned

    Qualifications:
The candidate should have a minimum of two years of office or administrative coordination experience. Experience or interest in higher education is a strong plus. The candidate must enjoy working with diverse populations, and be comfortable working independently, maintaining confidential information, and carrying out on-site health and safety procedures.

The successful candidate will have outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills, and at least intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Must be able to learn quickly in a technical environment, effectively use Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and operate video conferencing equipment, printers, copiers, and computers. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and commitment to excellence are vital.
