The University of Missouri Agricultural Engineering Extension program is seeking an engineer who would focus in the area of animal waste management and water/nutrient recycling.  The engineer will collaborate with stakeholders in the national agricultural community to develop decision making tools for water/nutrient recycling technology, and the opportunities and challenges to implementation, which is part of a multi-university collaboration effort.  Responsibility is to collaborate with the team to engage stakeholders, to develop an understanding of recycling technologies and the opportunities and challenges to implementation in the agricultural sector for treating liquid manure. The successful candidate will have opportunities working with innovative farmers and industry partners, to collect information for the research/extension projects, and to address on-farm implementation issues.

Specific activities include:

  • Collect information from technical providers and facilities utilizing water recycling technology, to feed into research and extension components
  • Conduct research in manure treatment and water/nutrient recycling
  • Develop educational materials based on research outcomes and team recommendations
  • Collaborate with the research and extension teams to develop materials based on research outcomes, and demonstrate proper technology/management
  • Conduct regional and national workshops/conferences, and on-line educational modules that focus on water/nutrient conservation and recycling

 Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering, M.S. degree is preferred

 Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Proven experience and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrate effective professional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate laboratory instrument and other specialized equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
