Position Summary and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manger of Payroll, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for preparing, processing, and finalizing biweekly and monthly payrolls. The Payroll Administrator reviews and analyzes employee status change forms and time reports to ensure compliance and accuracy. This position applies internal policies, employee handbooks, and the provisions of several collective bargaining agreements as they relate to payroll. Responsibilities:
  • Research and respond to inquiries from departments, employees, and various agencies regarding prior and/or future transactions.
  • Enter and/or review appropriate deductions, including tax withholdings.
  • Review time report hours entered and ensure processing is in compliance with federal and state laws and standards, as well as follows the various Collective Bargaining Agreements in place.
  • Run reports using Workday.
  • Processing of biweekly and monthly payrolls, as well as reissuing paychecks. Auditing of payroll information.
  • Track garnishment and loan payments.
  • Create accounts payable requisitions.
  • Filing of periodic payroll information. Assist in Periodic, Quarterly and Annual Tax Filing.
  • Assist in Audit Reporting/Requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in a payroll, accounting, or bookkeeping position required or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in higher education or other non-profit setting preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage numerous periodic tasks in a busy office environment with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse community of faculty and staff.
  • Excellent knowledge of administrative and PC computer applications, including the Microsoft suite (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Workday, SCT Banner, and Hyperion/Brio software or similar database and extraction/reporting software is a plus.
  • Maintains a professional and courteous demeanor during stressful situations and maintains good judgment with confidential employee information.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and problem-solving ability; Ability to effectively manage deadlines and multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively manage high volume of confidential material with strict deadlines and multiple competing priorities.
