The Department of Digital Arts in the School of Art at Pratt Institute invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to begin in January of 2022.

The Department of Digital Arts, which has been educating digital artists for over 30 years, is launching an exciting new BFA program in Game Arts. Working closely with the chair and the faculty, the successful candidate will help shape the curriculum and grow the program over the next several years. Pratt's Department of Digital Arts places concept first while demanding technical excellence in execution. The department also offers BFA and MFA degrees in 2D Animation, 3D Animation and Motion Arts and Interactive Arts. The department is housed in the School of Art.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach a range of Game Arts courses at the undergraduate levels

• Participate in curriculum revision and development

• Contribute to developing a strong culture of digital arts research, practice, and professional development in the department

• Maintain substantial creative accomplishments in digital arts

• Exhibit and/or screen work and participate in professional symposia

• Advise students

• Participate in committee work and other service to the department and the Institute

• Perform all other related activities as required
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an experienced educator in Game Arts and related media and a practicing artist. We seek applicants who have a comprehensive understanding of the role of digital technologies in the gaming industry. Some understanding of contemporary art practice and the animation industry is preferred.

We require an MFA in Game Arts/Design with three to five years' college level teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Game Arts, Coding, Game Development Software, Storytelling and Narrative Development and will be conversant in the history and critical theory of gaming and issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. Knowledge of Unity and other key game development software required. A strong record of professional accomplishment, as demonstrated through portfolio/reel, and an active exhibition/production record are essential.
