The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering currently has 44 faculty members and an enrollment of about 1290 undergraduate and 400 graduate students. The Department offers ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S., Master of Engineering, and Ph.D. degrees in Mechancial Engineering and in Mateials Science and Engineering. The Department has research focus areas in Structural Dynamics, Advanced Manufacturing, Thermal-Fluids Science, Applied and Computational Mechanics, Nanotechnology and Materials Science, Intelligent Systems, Safety. Job Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the Mechanical Engineering Program.  A broad and diverse spectrum of candidates is sought; women, members of underrepresented groups, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Candidates in a broad range of areas of mechanical engineering will be considered. The areas include, but are not limited to; (i) vibration, control, structural dynamics and acoustics; (ii) theoretical and applied mechanics and simulation; (iii) advanced materials and manufacturing; (iv) bio health; and (v) energy and thermal-fluid systems. Rank, tenure, salary and startup funding are commensurate with credentials.

Essential Functions
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses specific to their specialty areas (as noted above).
  • Develop externally funded research programs.
  • Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Conduct research in their specialty areas and publish research results in professional journals.
  • Participate in professional service activities such as editorial review, student career mentoring, advising of student organizations, serving on departmental, college and university committees, and performing outreach activities such as recruiting underrepresented students and holding workshops and seminars for industry.
  • Participate in curriculum and course development.
  Minimum Qualifications

Prior to effective date of appointment a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
