Project Manager

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Who are we:

Education is at an inflection point. Universities are quickly evolving and new technologies are reshaping the education experience. We are Utah Valley University — the largest student enrollment among public universities in the state, with approximately 40,000 students. We are one of a growing number of institutions in the nation offering an integrated dual-mission model that combines the rigor and richness of a first-rate teaching university with the openness and vocational programs of a community college.
Great people make great teams and we are looking for a great Project Manager to join our Digital Transformation (Dx) division. Our approach to managing projects is disciplined and quality-focused with an emphasis on creativity, craftsmanship and commitment. We are looking for smart, quality-minded individuals who want to be a part of a high functioning, dynamic team. We believe in treating people fairly and your total compensation should reflect that. Bring your passion for project management and help us transform ourselves as we build the next generation technologies, services and platforms. Now is the right time to join UVU!
What you'll be doing:

UVU's Digital Transformation (Dx) division employs technology to change culture, processes, and practices in ways that fundamentally change how institutions operate and provide value to those they serve. As we introduce new technologies, services, and products to UVU, the Project Manager manages and oversees the portfolio of projects undertaken by the Dx division. The PM will manage, instruct, direct, and review project management work for the division. We are seeking someone who can mentor project managers through all project phases and work with other departments and team leads to ensure day-to-day execution of projects. We also need this person to ensure cooperation, proper prioritization, compatibility, and the standardization of processes. They will research project management methodologies and techniques for continual process improvement, and have sufficient technical knowledge and experience with business process analysis, applications systems analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, and implementation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
We are searching for a person who:

  • Exhibits strong communications skills, both verbally and in writing, both in person and remotely, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Knows how to use research, process analysis, creativity, ingenuity, and collaboration to solve problems.
  • Can plan, think logically, pay attention to details, manage priorities, and apply organizational goals in completing their work.
  • Can work effectively with customers, contractors, and co-workers to achieve delightful project outcomes.
  • Is skilled in interpersonal relations, motivating others, and achieving unity within teams they oversee and those they support.
  • Applies agile project management principles, create and follow procedures, and mentor and train others.
  • Is self-motivated and organized, think strategically, and learn quickly as technology changes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
