The Assistant Registrar is responsible for completing all steps to process benefits and advise Thomas College Student Veterans and for managing the student enrollment records of non-matriculated high school students through The College’s Dual Enrollment programs. The Assistant Registrar assists the Registrar as the College’s official custodian/historian of all academic records, maintains accuracy, and safeguards confidentiality. They will be responsible for counseling and certifying all Veterans assistance benefits, conducting evaluations of transcripts for credit, advising, and registering students as appropriate and assisting the Registrar with all registration procedures. The Assistant Registrar will record and store vital information about each student, including prior educational record, applicability of any transfer credits to degree, current academic status and degree standing, and correct academic history with the College. They will act as a Designated School Official for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) administered by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. They will assist the Registrar with planning and preparation for special events including commencement and student orientations.

The Assistant Registrar position requires excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The Assistant Registrar should be able to manage time efficiently, be able to prioritize tasks, and withstand frequent interruptions. Experience working in higher education is highly preferred, as is experience with the Family Rights and Privacy Act and other legal formalities as they relate to academic records. Knowledge of National Student Clearinghouse reports, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools specifically MS Access and Excel, and knowledge of Veteran benefit regulations and VA Once. Knowledge of SEVIS regulations for F-1 students is preferred. At least three years’ professional work experience in higher education is highly preferred and a bachelor’s degree is required.
