Job Description

University of Missouri – Kansas City seeks a Scenic Studio Supervisor. This position oversees the daily operations of the Scenic Studio and holds the primary responsibility for instructing
studio students, managing Studio employees in the construction of conservatory scenery, assists in the construction, placement, and rigging of scenery for conservatory productions, performs general maintenance and upkeep of shop machinery and tools, helps to plan and organize the construction projects. Will teach as needed in the scenic production techniques and related courses in live entertainment technology in the BA and MFA programs.

Qualifications include:

  • proven supervisory skills;
  • ability to develop, implement and enforce best practice safety protocols;
  • mechanical skills in the use of hand and power tools, and welders;
  • ability to read and understand technical drawings, electrical schematics, and advanced construction plans;
  • ability to instruct on material relevant to technical production labs;
  • ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have professional studio experience and a bachelor’s degree in theatre with a masters preferred.

Full Time/Part Time

This is a full time, benefit eligile, unranked, non-tenure track, nine month appointment.
