Chief Objective of Position

The Instruction Librarian is responsible for the development and delivery of all aspects of the library’s instruction program.

Work Tasks

  1. Plan, develop and assess a program of instruction in library resources and services for all communities of the University. Manages and acts as lead instructor of program.  
  2. Develop, design and implement online learning content
  3. Develop, maintain and assess an instruction web page on library’s web page.
  4. Supervise and develop the University Archives and Special Collections
  5. Lead administrator of the Trible Library web site and electronic resources
  6. Supervises Electronic Resources Coordinator.
  7. Acts as liaison to the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity.
  8. Provide Reference assistance
  9. Serve as a liaison to one or more academic department 
  10. Review and communicate safety issues to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absence. 
  11. Develop and maintain very positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Fully support the “Student’s First” value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service. 
  12. This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

Required Education

A Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution by application date is required.

Preferred Education

Second Masters Degree in a related field.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an academic library environment in public services and instruction. Demonstrated experience in library outreach to faculty and students.
  • Experience in developing and delivering academic library instruction.
  • Experience in developing and delivering online academic library instruction and developing supportive instruction modules.
  • Experience in managing archives and special collections.
  • Library Reference experience; and supervisory experience.

Experience Preferred

  • Experience in managing library web pages.
  • Experience in working with undergraduate research programs.
  • Experience in Scholarly Communication Programs.
