Job Summary
The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for planning and configuring the Enterprise Virtualization Environments for both servers and VDI clients. The server environments is used by all of the University's enterprise servers, both Linux and Windows. The Horizon View environment supports remote, secure access to critical applications. It requires a strong understanding of system administration as well as in-depth knowledge and experience with VMware Vsphere, Horizon, NSX, Insight, and Vcenter.
Essential Functions
- Managing and Configuring VMware Horizon infrastructure
- Manage and configure VMware VSphere and Vcenter
- Building and maintaining scripts for automation, reporting etc.
- Troubleshoot complex problems
- Identify and plan deployment of new tools and procedures to improve the performance and reliability of the virtual environments
- Identify, Plan and Implement Cloud based virtualization where it is cost effective and appropriate
- Document processes, procedures and fixes
- Other duties as assignment
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Typically sitting at a desk/table
- Lifting demands ≤ 25lbs
