Position Title:

Employee Experience Specialist

Position Overview:

Executes strategic communications for the division of People & Culture via a combination of external/internal website management, social media campaigns, and internal communication platforms. Develops and executes meaningful and relevant faculty, staff, and student employee (“employee”) appreciation efforts. Fosters high feedback culture through engagement, empowerment, and advocacy. Stays on the pulse of best practices, solicits and receives feedback, and makes recommendations that will enhance the quality of work-life for UCOs employee population. Displays excellence, integrity, reliability, and innovation throughout all interactions with employees, students and other stakeholders.
Hybrid remote work is available, after a 90 day onboarding. Hybrid work and flex work options are contingent upon strong performance, attendance, and conduct.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Oversees the following functions within the Employee Relations Department:

  • People & Culture Communications Team
  • Several campus-wide employee appreciation events
  • Routine engagement and employee outreach programs
  • Monthly newsletters; ad hoc communication; campaigns
  • Employee Care & Support Initiatives including the Employee Assistance Program
  • Special Projects which may include creating Excel reports, PowerPoint presentations, issue resolution and other duties as assigned
  • Serves as backup or additional support for Employee Relations/Talent Acquisition Specialists


College/Department Overview:

The Employee Experience Specialist role works inside of the Employee Relations Department, which is part of the larger Talent Management team. The Employee Relations Department is four distinct roles that work together to empower UCO faculty, staff, and student employees to bring their best selves to work every day. This role will require someone who enjoys working as part of a team inside of a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Public Relations or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the Public Relations field or 7+ years of equivalent related work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Strong reasoning and analytical skills are necessary. Exceptional grammar, communication and presentation skills are necessary.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred :

Proficiency with Canva, InDesign and/or Illustrator is strongly preferred. Experience with AP style, marketing, and/or event planning are strongly preferred. aPHR or PHR and/or experience with human resource functions is preferred. Experience in Banner and Excel is a plus. Design and/or management of SharePoint pages is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Speaking/Writing - Ability to effectively express ideas, instructions and concepts; Ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Excellent interpersonal relationship and customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff/faculty, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Judgment and Decision Making - Ability to make independent, complex decisions while simultaneously exercising personal initiative and good judgment. Practices critical thinking. Balances logic with compassion through the lenses of consistency and sustainability.

Social Perceptiveness - Demonstrates good human relation skills to establish and foster good relationships throughout entire university community. Must consistently display servant leadership. Practices active listening.

Fast Paced Environment - Ability to keep a positive attitude during stressful situations and keep up with multiple projects. Willingness to work overtime as required. Proficient use of personal computer and ability to quickly learn and utilize the university software program and systems in the performance of regular duties.
