City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is made up of seven colleges, the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest nationally. The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Wellness Centers provide counseling, case management and other social services to support students in maintaining their personal well-being and achieving their academic goals.

Located at each of the seven colleges, Wellness Centers provide best-practices mental health and psycho-social services to students, faculty, and staff including: crisis intervention, case management with linkage to community-based resources and public aid programs; individual counseling, support groups, evaluation for learning disabilities, wellness education and outreach; and consultation and training for faculty and staff.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to a District Director – Student Wellness and under general supervision, the Staff Psychologist-Wellness Center provides psychological testing and assessments as well as range of supplementary clinical services to students, faculty and staff at the 7 City Colleges campuses. Participates in the areas of clinical services, graduate-level training program, wellness initiatives and daily operations. Has primary clinical supervision of assigned graduate level trainees and collaboratively participates in the group training of all graduate-level trainees participating in the Clinical Training Program. Contributes to the best-practices operations of the Wellness Centers and district Wellness department, and participates in promoting a holistic plan of health and wellness initiatives for CCC students. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs psychological testing, assessments, and other clinical interventions for designated students in coordination with the Clinical Director at each campus’ Wellness Center.
  • Works with district DAC directors to coordinate testing and documentation needs to support student accommodations.
  • May be assigned by the District Director – Student Wellness to provide as-needed clinical support and direction to a campus Wellness Center. May be assigned to address administrative-level time-sensitive concerns, inter-department meetings, or requested consultations.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of evidence-based and best practices initiatives and services.
  • Serves on the District Supportive Intervention Team (SIT)
  • Assists in identifying and developing additional clinical competency training materials for graduate-level trainees.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development of the training program, including the recruitment, interviewing and monitoring of the graduate-level trainees.
  • Provides doctoral-level clinical supervision to graduate-level trainees.
  • Supervises doctoral-level trainees in psychological assessments and report writing. Conduct assessments when necessary.
  • Provides referrals to appropriate health and social service agencies for additional services as required.
  • Conducts best practices crisis assessment and intervention and arranges emergency psychiatric assessment, as needed.
  • Provides supplementary clinical services to a diverse student population across a broad range of presenting issues.
  • Serves as consultant to college staff and faculty for student development issues, behavioral threat assessment, classroom behavioral management, and the overall behavioral health of the college community.
  • Develops and implements educational and prevention outreach programming, especially for undeserved or special populations, which demonstrates cultural responsiveness.
  • Maintains case records and data on services provided by the Wellness Center and creates reports evaluating the effectiveness of services using Titanium medical records system and Counseling Center Assessment Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS).
  • Creates and maintains a professional, welcoming environment for individuals visiting the Wellness Center for services and information.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field.
  • Only those who have held a license as a doctoral-level Psychologist (Illinois or another state) for a minimum of two (2) years will be considered.
  • Active licensure by the State of Illinois as a Clinical Psychologist is required. If license is held in a different state, an Illinois license must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • At least two (2) years of experience providing psychological testing, assessments, and other mental health services to college students or populations with trauma.
  • At least two (2) years of experience providing clinical supervision to doctoral-level trainees. (This may include those trainees at the internship or post-doctoral level.)
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with a multi-cultural population and demonstrate a commitment to providing culturally competent services to our diverse student population.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and experience in administration of psychological assessment tools including cognitive, achievement, and personality measures.
  • Knowledge of clinical supervision theories and/or styles.
  • Knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy and counseling theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of case management and coordinated care techniques.
  • Knowledge of treatment principles, modalities and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social service agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Skill in applying solid clinical judgment to cases.
  • Ability to shift between clinical and non-clinical duties to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel between City Colleges Campuses
