Position Summary:

Under The general supervision of the Grounds Supervisor, this position works as a member of the UW-Madison, Grounds Concrete/Asphalt Construction Crew. Primary concrete duties involve inspecting, maintaining, repairing, replacing, and constructing new concrete sidewalks, curbs, steps, pads, etc. Remove old material, prepare for proper sub-base and compaction. Pour concrete and finish surfaces as necessary. Primary asphalt duties involve inspecting, maintaining, repairing, replacing, and constructing new asphalt structures to include asphalt roads, parking lots, and bike paths. Prepare for proper sub-base and compaction Follow blueprints to proper size and grades required for forming grade surface and new construction of existing concrete/asphalt for proper grade, crown and pitch. Install and maintain all outdoor signs and fences and participate in the snow removal operation.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Must be available for snow removal and overtime work as necessary.

Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tank endorsement(s) at hire, and maintain ability to drive State of Wisconsin vehicles.

Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tank endorsement(s) within six months of hire.

Physical work requiring lifting, bending, stooping and kneeling for extended periods of time.

Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) will require Post-Offer Pre-Employment screenings on all selected candidates.

4. Your experience with hardscape installations. (i.e. asphalt, concrete, block walls, or flat block)

A criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists.
