Global Health – TT Job Ad, Epidemiologist (2021-
2022)
Denison University. The Global Health Program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 2022 with a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in one of the fields below by the start date (ABD will be considered as Instructor until Ph.D. is attained):
-Global Health with a specialization in Epidemiology
-Public Health with a global focus on Epidemiology
-PhD in Epidemiology with a global focus
-PhD in Biostatistics with a global health focus
This position requires an epidemiologist whose work is both
empirically rigorous and methodologically sophisticated. The
candidate must show commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching and
engaging with undergraduate students. Examples of expertise include
general epidemiology, social epidemiology and patient-centered
outcomes research, community-based participatory research, health
research in a global context, health disparities, and comparative
effectiveness research. The ability to teach within the
interdisciplinary Global Health Program curriculum and a strong
commitment to liberal arts education is necessary. Candidates must
be able to teach an epidemiology course with a lab, a Global Health
methods course, interdisciplinary introductory courses in Global
Health, and upper-level elective courses pertinent to topical
issues in Global Health. Lastly, candidates should be able to
articulate how undergraduates may contribute to their ongoing
research projects and how the candidate would supervise
undergraduate projects.
Candidates must demonstrate their contributions and/or potential to
contribute to diversity through teaching, research, and/or
service/leadership. Successful candidates are expected to maintain
a productive, ongoing research program and contribute to the
continued growth of the Global Health Program, the College, and the
broader scholarly community.
The typical teaching load is 5 courses per year or course
equivalents. The mentoring and guidance of the faculty member
through contract renewal and the tenure process will be managed by
a committee of faculty from the Global Health Program.
