Finger Lakes Community College is affiliated with The State University of New York (SUNY) and is currently recruiting for a Digital Content Specialist at our main campus in Canandaigua, New York.

The Digital Content Specialist is part of the web services team within the Marketing Office and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of FLCC’s public website, including creating and editing content, inputting updates, and assisting in the development of webpages. The position will also create compelling content for use across digital platforms and work with College stakeholders to manage the production of web and digital content. The Marketing Office plays a strategic role in supporting the success of the College's goals for enrollment and brand visibility. The marketing team works across all types of channels to showcase the very best of FLCC and to execute content strategies that connect meaningfully with our audiences.

Qualifications :

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of professional experience writing for the web and other online channels, preferably in higher education. Ability to show a strong portfolio demonstrating web, social media, or online content and copywriting work. Excellent storytelling and communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and grammar. Ability to lead content development projects with key stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Understanding of basic HTML and CSS. Ability, aptitude, and willingness to learn a variety of digital authoring and publishing tools (i.e. Adobe web development tools, content management systems, CRM software, and social media publishing and management tools). Ability, aptitude, and willingness to learn accessibility compliance and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.

Special Skills:

Writing and storytelling skills with a strong understanding of content strategy, an eye for editorial consistency, and an ability to follow and enforce brand and editorial guidelines. Knowledgeable of digital technologies and tools, and comfortable working with a variety of current and emerging digital platforms.

The starting salary is $47,565.00 and will be commensurate with experience.
