Position Summary

This position conducts contact tracing through the use of a computer program and phones to call all contacts of anyone diagnosed with COVID -19 to document a symptom check, refer them for testing according to established protocols, and provide them with instructions for isolation or quarantine. Contact Tracers are required to follow all scripts, policies, and procedures and comply with training regarding confidential information related to personal information.

This is a temporary position working fluctuating hours, depending on the need, to conduct contact tracing. This position is expected to last through December December 22 and could be extended beyond that date.

Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit

The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL . We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service, and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes several departments: Admissions, Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

Required Qualifications

· High School diploma or GED .
· Preference for experience requiring confidentiality, communication, computer data entry.
· Ability to work remotely, with an existing high-speed internet connection, in an interruption-free environment.
· Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
· Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to speak, read and write English – second or multiple languages a plus.
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Ability to accurately and efficiently complete data entry.

Duties to Support Responsibility

· Receives names/contact information of close contacts to lab-confirmed case(s) from the Case Manager of the Disease Investigation Team and initiates contact tracing by calling or connecting in some way.
· Uses communication skills to introduce self and develop a rapport, with clients and department staff.
· Informs the contact about their exposure, asks them about symptoms, and provides instructions about quarantine or isolation depending on whether or not they have symptoms.
· Collects and records information on WEDSS .
· Implements regular check-ins for contacts throughout the isolation or quarantine period and records all information in WEDSS .
· Maintains confidentiality.
· In this public service position, the employee is required to be courteous, cooperative, and respectful at all times, with the public and clients.

Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative, and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors, and public officials.
