Job Description:

The Division of College Advancement at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Director of the Fund for Oneonta. Reporting to the Director of Development and Donor Relations, the Director of the Fund for Oneonta is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of a comprehensive and effective annual fundraising program that builds a long-term base of support for SUNY Oneonta programs and priorities.

The Division of College Advancement develops relationships and secures resources that enable the College to achieve its vision and mission by engaging current and retired faculty and staff, alumni, students, corporations, foundations, government entities and friends of the College. Duties include but not limited to:

  • Lead, plan and execute a successful annual giving program that focuses on securing support to the Fund for Oneonta and other programs from alumni, students, friends, staff, faculty, and parents.
  • Develop all annual solicitations, including direct mail, Phonathon, social media, and email to expand SUNY Oneonta's donor base and increase giving.
  • Supervise the Assistant Director of the Fund for Oneonta, including that position's management of the Phonathon calling program.
  • Write content for fundraising messages and appeals, electronic and print pieces, and manage all Fund for Oneonta printed collateral.
  • Develop and execute plans and programs for special fundraising events, such as a Day of Giving.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources to drive continuously improved fundraising performance.
  • Communicate fundraising plans and results to the Director of Development and Donor Relations, Vice President for College Advancement, Director of Alumni Engagement, College at Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors, and SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association Board of Directors.


Required qualifications: bachelor's degree; at least three years of relevant experience in a fundraising-related role; experience generating strategic fundraising messages and content; experience utilizing digital communications; experience with Microsoft Office Suite products; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred: experience supervising professional staff members; experience in annual giving; experience utilizing Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge or similar CRM database software; experience working with VanillaSoft or similar Phonathon engagement software; excellent written communication skills; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
