About the School of Social Work: The USF School of Social Work enrolled its first class in 1976. The School has a strong tradition of providing an engaging social work education program to prepare students to serve as practitioners, administrators and scholars around the globe. The BSW and MSW programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The School has a strong commitment to promoting social, economic and environmental justice through all of its educational programs. In collaboration with the College of Public Health, the School of Social Work also offers a concurrent degree program (MSW/MPH) at the graduate level.

POSITION SUMMARY: The University of South Florida, School of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position for the Sarasota-Manatee campus for the Spring of 2022. We encourage collegiate and collaborative applicants who are interested in joining our School of Social Work scholarly faculty in educating social work professionals and contributing to priority areas of research emphasizing the following: child welfare, health, mental health, substance abuse, children and families, aging, homelessness, schools, corrections and cultural diversity as it relates to all of these areas. As part of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, members of our faculty engage in innovative behavioral, interdisciplinary, translational, and implementation research focused on finding solutions that lead to improvements in the quality of life, health and safety of diverse populations and communities.  Since the position is dedicated to the development of the BSW (Bachelor’s of Social Work) on the Sarasota-Manatee campus, the primary responsibilities are teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students. However, responsibilities of this position also include instruction of MSW and doctoral level courses in Social Work; assisting Ph.D. student research and dissertation studies, and engaging in scholarship, research, grantsmanship, and service.

1. MSW from a CSWE accredited School of Social Work or equivalent
2. PHD in Social Work or related field or DSW or expected completion of PhD in Social Work degree in related field or DSW by start date.
3. A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service.

1. Strong identification with core values of social work
2. 2 Years post MSW clinical or practical experience
3. Experience in teaching courses in BSW & MSW program
4. Knowledge of BSW curriculum strongly preferred
5. History of external research funding
6. Knowledge of CSWE competencies
