The Oakland University Eye Research Insitute is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in neuro and vascular biology. This is a training position designed for an individual to learn, through engagement, in an advanced level of scientific, technical and administrative work in an assigned laboratory or clinical research setting. Responsibilities include
  • participation in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols;
  • develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures;
  • publish results in scientific journals and
  • perform a variety of complex chemical biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, as well as statistical/computational and dissection procedures.
Additionally, candidates must have:
  • Experience as former postdoctoral fellow, graduate student, research assistant, technician, or lab manager
  • Competency in research techniques
  • Ability to write and communicate and use Microsoft office clearly
  • Ability to learn new computer programs for data analysis and manuscript publication
  • Experience with flow cytometer, RT-PCR, Cell Culture preferred in vascular and or neuronal cells, animal experiments, Western blot, PCR, immunohistochemistry and imaging, and ELISA
  • Ability to do morphometric analysis and data analysis independently and maintaining raw data in organized manner
  • Experience of working in the field of neuro- and vascular biology. Molecular Biology and experience with flow cytometer and or LC/MS
